Paragraph 1: The Problem of Divorce

Divorce is a social problem, which is a general phenomenon in all societies and seems to be increasingly prevalent in our societies in modern times. Divorce results in some negative effects in the disintegration of the family, the increasing enmity and hatred and negative effects on children and then the numerous social and psychological effects ranging from mental disorders to deviant behavior and crime and so on.

There is no doubt that regulating the relationship between men, women and family formation has attracted the attention of scholars for a long time. We find in all the laws and ethics wide classes to regulate this relationship and to ensure its existence and continuation. Religious leaders, intellectuals, sociologists and psychologists care about this relationship, all attempts on their part serve the success of this relationship because this is the continuation of life itself, happiness and development.

There are several reasons for divorce, including marital boredom, ease of change and finding as alternative, the tyranny of life and the search for physical pleasures and the spread of selfishness and weakness. Another cause of divorce is infidelity. Many views agree on the impossibility of continuing the relationship after the occurrence of marital infidelity, especially in the case of treacherous women. In case of a man’s breach, there are different opinions and justifications abound that try to support the continuation of the relationship.

Paragraph 2: (Divorce in the UAE)

In our country, it seems that this phenomenon is excessive compared with other communities. Doubt, increased jealousy and mistrust without convincing evidence of infidelity can be the cause of corruption of marital relationships which requires treatment for both of them. Statistics have concluded that the number of divorce cases in Abu Dhabi in March 2009 and published in the newspaper Emirates Today indicate that the divorce rate in the UAE has reached about 26%; on the basis of this figure, the UAE ranks third in the Middle East in the incidence of divorce.  A study, by Marriage Fund along with the University of Sharjah in 2011, concerning 1,742 Emirati divorced women, exposed that lack of communication due to lack of agreement in the marriage is one of the main causes of divorce among Emiratis.

There are 13.5% of divorced women married at the age of at least 14 years old, in late childhood, as there are 23.7% of divorcing couples are young people aged between 20 - 24 years old, and the wife takes the initiative 43% in divorces, and the pair by 39%, and 12% in agreement, and 3.7% at the request of the husband's family, and 2.1% at the request of the wife's family. Reports showed that marriage and divorce in the UAE had always been associated with the domestic economic condition, with weddings increasing when there is an economic improvement and divorces rushing when there is a decline. Although Emiratis account for just less than a fifth of the emirate’s population, they exceeded a third of the total divorces last year, with 379 cases.

Paragraph 3: Solutions

Divorce recently increased in the Arab countries, an indication of the disintegration of social values. High divorce rates are recently noted in the UAE society, as a result of the economic movement that crowded the country. Sociologists relate this phenomenon to various reasons.

Some solutions to the divorce problem are: resolving marital disputes through dialogue and understanding between spouses. Allowing the parents of the husband to see his fiancée before marriage. Making good choices for men and women is an important thing. Acquiring knowledge of the marital life of a culture of legality and realism. Knowing each other’s duties and responsibilities helps to avoid divorce. Other solutions to this problem are: the couple should make concessions to each other. Expanding welfare programs and social assistance even ease the burden on the shoulders of the family which is the cause of the problems caused by divorce.

To avoid divorce in our society, the government has to reconsider the legal process of divorce and make it more serious in the eyes of requests for divorce so that the parties may reconsider.

History of Karate

1-Early history

 

Karate is a Japanese word consisting of Kara that means fight, and Tie that means empty hand, empty from any weapon. And religious men took care of this new way and developed it. The Indian monk Bodhedrama has transferred this martial art to China when he flew from India to the Shaolin Temple in the South East of China. The Chinese martial arts moved during the late second century AD to Japan and became more sophisticated, so we find that this art went to Okinawa five centuries ago. The art of karate is not limited to a certain age, but it is suitable for all ages. Modern Karate is a good method to act in self-defense based on fitness and physical and mental powers without the use of weapons. Karate practitioners should have flexibility and muscle strength and speedy responses. This art extends to thought and develops it, and increases self-confidence, boldness, courage and also supports control of sensation and feeling among individuals.

 

2-Development

 

Karate grew up in Okinawa when many researchers investigated about the secrets and the emergence of this art, in order to know and write the history of this secret art of self-defense. Clear the secrecy of this science began in 1905 when one supervisor, recommended including karate as curriculum in usual school Shori and middle school in Okinawa as well. In order to introduce this art initially to the student without giving skill that could cause death or direct harm to others, and these skills used to be indicator to the ability of this art on destruction and harm others. Then came the founder of modern karate Master Jesheen Funakoshi, who was responsible for the methods in karate as we know it today. He was born in Okina in 1868, and at the age of eleven, he began to study Karate because he wanted to be a teacher in different styles   of this art, he taught in Okinawa and he describes the Shuri Funakoshi style as heavy and powerful movement.

3-    Modern Developments

 

In 1921, Master Funakoshi developed karate and displayed the karate art and in the following year, he founded the Master Funakoshi, the first school to teach karate do in Tokyo, Japan. In 1935, Funakoshi published Karate-Do Kyohon which is one of the most important stages of karate which reviewed  Karate and adjusted so that it is apdated from a very complex picture to an image that can it performed by players of different ages. The names of Kata have been changed to reflect the names of the original Okinawa to make it easy to understand it. In 1937, Karate became a strong foundation and entered different associations in Okinawa in Japanese martial arts union and established a branch in Okinawa. Training methods, also were the last subject that took his attention, while there was only the Kata in the past. He divided the exercise into three kinds; the fundamentals and Fake Fighting Kata and Actual Fighting Kumite. Although karate was unknown, it has survived and flourished to the pupils of Master Funakoshi who stayed after the war, began in assembly and assisted Funakoshi to build a Cotocan school again and helped him in making the modern history of karate. Master Funakoshi died in 1957 at the age of 90 years and he left the world a group of experts who contributed to the deployment and development of karate around the world.

First Reflection

                                                                  First Reflection

After finishing our summary on desert police patrols, my teacher gave us lots of advice; such as – looking at the title of the passage, skimming for the main idea, and looking more closely at the opening and closing paragraphs. The teacher also advised us to omit all names of people and all the quotations of the passage. We were also told to look at the broad subject, not only the individual's role.

In our second summary, which is the first assessed task, we wrote about road accidents that became the biggest reason for child mortality in the UAE. The teacher kindly advised us to keep to a minimum figures and percentages since it was so important in this summary to present some facts. The high rates of accidents and mortality and low percentages of the usage of car seats by local car passengers are the major points of the summary.

In our third summary, which is the second assessed task, we discussed a new eco tour in waters off the Palm Jebel Ali, supporting a traditional diving experience for both locals and tourists. It was quite uncomplicated and we learned a lot from what we had done and got good scores. We think that the summary work has been fascinating and helpful for all of us.

Tour provides insight into pearl diving

The Aabian Gulf was of the largest natural diving economies in the world. Pearl diving was still in play in the UAE but faded away as less expensive pearls became commonplace. The last century-old Emirati hunt for the black pearl has not disappeared completely, to reconnect Emiratis and tourists with the once vibrant pearl-diving economy in the Gulf Emirates, the inaugural public tour aboard a traditional dhow has now been launched officially giving up to 20 paid guests a change to travel back in time and dive to the shallow ocean floor in search of their very own pearls. The proud tradition of pearl diving in the UAE may be gone but it’s certainly not forgotten, said major Suwaidi.  There was a pre-lunch dhow tour and pearling dive to a secluded protected cove where the media learned the merits of  fetching oysters from the sea bottom and once safe back on board, shucking the shelled creatures in search of naturally-grown pearls. The local pearl industry collapsed when Far East pearl farmers created the cultured pearls by manually inserting a foreign bead in each oyster to produce fine pearls cheaper than the Arabian pearl.

Road crashes main of child death in UAE

The traffic accidents are the leading cause of death among infants and responsible for 63 percent of deaths among children aged and under14 in UAE. The Ministry of Interior prohibits children younger than ten years from sitting in the front seat but some children continue to do so. The child safety car seat campaign is held annually to raise awareness of the the importance of child car seats. A small percentage of child passengers are restrained by car seats or seat belts. There are many large impacts on the traffic injury and death rate in Dubai.

 

 

The child car seat restraint can reduce risks; all children should sit in the back of the car. The most important thing is to check for the seat belt every month to see if it works OK or should be replaced by a new one to prevent accidents. We want people to think of the safety of people in cars is very important.
